Crock Pot Hoisin Drumsticks

Posted on January 20th, 2009, by Erin

I don’t know if I’ve sung the praises of the crock pot enogh on this site, but if I have not, I really should start.  You dump a bunch of things in, and then 6 hours later, you have dinner.   This recipe was especially tasty.  Although the taste wasn’t strong, it was flavorful.  And sometimes I have “issues” with the texture of drumsticks.  Slow cooking them really worked well to improve the texture.  The meat was falling off the bone, but still attached enough to let them come easily out without falling apart.  Cooking in the sauce all day meant that the flavor was richly throughout the meat.  I lurv my crock pot.

Place however many drumsticks you want at the bottom of your crockpot.  We used six.

Combine:

  • 1/2 c. hoisin sauce
  • 1/4 c. honey
  • 4 smashed or pressed garlic cloves
  • 1/2 tsp dried ginger, or 1″ freshly grated
  • 1 Tbs sesame oil

Pour over chicken.  Turn on low for 6-7 hours, or high for 3-4 hours, until chicken is cooked through.  I served ours with Teryaki noodles and snap pea stir fry veggies.
